I am a Computer Science student at the University of Essex Online, working towards a CertHE (Level 4) qualification. Originally from Brazil, I have been living and working in the United Kingdom for approximately eight years, holding settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme.
My academic journey began with a deliberate choice: to understand computing from first principles. The programme has taken me from research and professional practice, through mathematics and statistics, into procedural and object-oriented programming, and now into web application development.
I am a self-directed learner who values evidence-based thinking and honest, rigorous work. I document my progress carefully — this e-portfolio is itself part of that practice — and I am building towards a transition into a technical or data-focused role in the technology sector.
CertHE Computer Science consists of eight Level 4 modules. Each completed module has a dedicated page with learning outcomes, artefacts, reflective writing, and a professional skills matrix.
Introduction to academic research, methodology, Harvard referencing, and scholarly writing.
Mathematical foundations and statistical methods for computer science.
Core programming principles, procedural logic, and algorithmic thinking.
Classes, inheritance, encapsulation, polymorphism and OOP design.
Database design, data structures, and modelling fundamentals.
Full-stack web development: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, server-side scripting, databases, and security.
Networking principles, protocols, and the architecture of connected systems.
Digital logic, computer architecture, and the foundations of computing systems.
Skills acquired and demonstrated across the programme so far. This overview is updated as each module is completed and its evidence confirmed.
Note: skill levels reflect confirmed module evidence across the four completed modules (Research & Professional Practice, Maths & Statistics, Fundamentals of Programming, and Object-oriented Programming). Web technologies are in progress in the current module.
